BPH and Intimacy
Understand. Communicate. Become a team.
Closeness and sexuality are important at any age
In addition to other sex-related issues that men may face as they grow older, research
shows that common symptoms of BPH can also interfere with sexual function and desire. Many treatments for BPH, particularly
surgical procedures and medications, can also cause changes in men's sexual
function. These changes can affect you
too.
A sexual side effect of BPH treatment
One of the side effects that commonly occurs after surgery for BPH and with the
use of some medications such as RAPAFLO® is "retrograde ejaculation."
Men who experience this side effect have orgasm with reduced or no semen. This condition
is not dangerous. This side effect is reversible upon discontinuation of the drug.
